Summer looks for the girls that live in all black

Time and again, I have laid focus on how fashion is subjective. Fashion is so much about experimenting and also identifying your own sense of style.

Also, won’t you all agree when I say that the secret of stylish and affordable wardrobe is knowing how to wear the same pieces over and over, while making them look new and different? Do you not feel that there are a few styles you keep going back to? Like something you relate yourself so well with?

Today’s looks are such styles, I feel so strongly about!

If offered a single piece of clothing that I would wear for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t think twice and call for a black shirt (my dad’s shirt to be specific πŸ˜‚) Black is life. I have worn a black shirt all my life, quite literally.
I don’t remember a day when I went for shopping and didn’t pick a black piece be it a shirt, a top or whatever it may be. When we hear the term black, we instantly think of any outfit we want to wear to a dinner/cocktail party etc. It just doesn’t come out naturally to us to wear a black dress to a brunch or a day outing, leave aside wearing them on a bright sunny day.

And hence I had this urge to create a fuss free black outfit look which is easy on us even on a sunny summer day.
If you have followed me on instagram for sometime now, you know that how much I love wearing my dad’s shirt. Well he doesn’t know about me wearing his shirts. (I’ll probably be found hanging on the howrah bridge if he gets to know about this. πŸ˜‚)

Everybody knows how to styke a white shirt, We have seen numerous blogposts on wearing a white shirt but didn’t read about anything on styling a black shirt. No doubt black shirts can be worn in the same way. You might have even tried one or two yourself. If not, you can do now.

Let’s get going –

Ever in doubt of what to wear? Two words to remember black and basics. And you’re set!

Look 1 : Wear the shirt as a jacket

Not everyone feels comfortable in a short or a sleeveless dresses. What to do? Denim jackets may not be too comfortable to carry in summers. Instead going for an oversized black shirt can compliment the look well. Just like I have paired my little pink dress with this oversized black shirt to complete the look.

Look 2 : Basics

The first step of organising your closet is to have the basic pieces. Whether you have to go for an outing with your friends or to an office party or a date, basic pieces can do wonders. Like, for this look I wore my pink dress as a top with a DIY skirt and wore the black shirt over it. Spice up with some accessories and you’re done!

Some say that it may be a bit much, black on black, but I say you’re crazy..

When have you ever regretted sporting an all black outfit. I’ll answer that for you, never!

Look 3 : Off-shoulder

I came up with this one once when I was confused on what to wear on an outing with friends. This look is quite simple and best for those times when you’re going out. All I have done is pulled my shirt down from the back (giving it a more classy look) and paired it up with the same DIY skirt. Completed the look with a statement neck piece.

Look 4 : Tie a knot

I can live my whole life in an oversized shirt, specially when I’m talking about summer heat though not everyone can pull off an oversized shirt easily. Want to know a simple hack?

Just tie a knot and wear it as a crop top over your favourite pair of denims and add some accessories to compliment the look. Ta-da! You are ready to slay.

Look 5 : Belt it up!

Get an oversized black shirt, roll up the sleeves and pair it up with a skinny jeans. Add a belt and a pair of stiletto and you are good to go.

SHIRT : Raymonds (Dad’s shirt)

DENIMS : Pantaloons

SKIRT : DIY (made out of an old jeans)

With a flower in her hand 🌻

“Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.”
– Christina Rossetti

You know when the season changes and it feels like summer? Haven’t summer just bragged in? I mean, just last week I was still carrying a jacket with me and now out of nowhere I feel the need of all things cold. Although, I do prefer summer over winters because of the kind of clothes we can wear in this season.

Coming back to the outfit for today, it is one dress and two looks scene.
Pants have always appealed to me more than skirts (Like, Yes! I love to dress up but you know pants are always more comfortable. Don’t you agree?) Though I have never been a very feminine girl BUT I have my moments. Moments where I want to feel like a young, blossoming lady, with table manners. And floral wrap dress has been one of my favourite trends this spring. Florals are all about having fun with fashion and embracing the joy and romance of spring. I love how they’re super flowy and feminine but also quite comfortable. Flowers will forever be considered as the incarnation of spring, it seems to be a bit familiar but never falling far from extraordinary.

I picked up this floral print wrap dress from Myntra, Miss Chase (you can find the dress here) and I’m super excited to continue wearing it into summer!

Carrying the first look I feel fearless, happy and all other good things but how can I forget my pants. Yes! For the second look I chose to wear the dress as a top.

So here’s my photo story on how I feel when I wear this dress, Beautiful!

Florals not only make me feel pretty, summery, feminine but also ladylike, (with table manners!) as I have already mentioned. A simple floral wrap dress, like I’m wearing here, is enough to take you to a field full of flowers, bathing in the sun, fighting bees and praying that a butterfly sits on you.

And here we come to an end. I hope you like the first transitional summer looks! Please do lemme know in the comments below.

Until the next one,

Much love! πŸ’‹

Valentine’s day outfit ideas!

Do you believe in love? Are you someone who believes in MODERN DAY ‘DATING’ or someone who believes in eternal love, ‘OLD FASHIONED’, as they say? Why I suddenly raised this question? Ah! Valentine’s day is just a few more days away. We all tend to relate February with love. Don’t we? Flowers, chocolates, red-hearts and romance. That’s what Valentine’s is all about, right? But, why only a day to celebrate love, why not celebrate it everyday, why not consider the whole year as love year? Different people have different perspective. So have you ever tried to find the story behind this day? Why this one day is celebrated as love day and not others.

Well! It all started in 269 A.D., Valentine a simple christian priest came forward and stood up for love, for those thousands of couples who saw their hopes of matrimony dashed by the single act of a tyrant by Emperor Claudius. The act that was started because Claudius believed that recruitment for the army was down because Roman men did not want to leave their lovers and families behind. Despite the emperor’s orders, Valentine began to secretly marry the soldiers before they went off to the war. And when Claudius came to know about the secret, he had Valentine thrown into prison and deemed that he would be put to death.
As Valentine was awaiting execution he fell in love with a blind girl who happened to be the jailer’s daughter. On the eve of his execution, Valentine is said to have written her a sonnet with the ink he squeezed from the violets. It is said that his words made the blind girl see again. It was a brief romance because the next day Valentine was clubbed to death. Saint Valentine gave his life so that young couples could bond together in holy matrimony. Eventually, the Catholic Church granted Valentine sainthood and decided to create a feast in his honor.
